Known issues on the 2001 TT Quattro. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year, and the 1.8L turbo four carries the factory code AWP. Two separate campaigns cover the driver-side frontal air bag inflator module: Non-Azide Driver air bag Inflators without phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate propellant can absorb moisture and deploy improperly in a crash, leaving the occupant unprotected. A third covers the engine and engine cooling system, where a failed aftermarket timing belt water pump can shut the engine down and increase the risk of a crash. A fourth covers the rear suspension, where corrosion can enter the rear track control arm's mounting bushing and bolt combination and impede its free movement. A fifth covers the brake master cylinder, where a failed seal can leak brake fluid and result in poor braking performance. A failure of the timing belt may cause the engine to shut down, potentially increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Remedy
