Known issues on the 2000 Windstar. Eight recalls attach to this model year on the federal record. Rear axle corrosion is the recurring theme, including a campaign issued because the brackets fitted under an earlier axle remedy may not have been installed properly. Front lower control arm attaching brackets and underbody shields drew separate corrosion campaigns, the latter tied to reduced steering control. An aftermarket fuel filter whose quick connectors may not seat completed the list. Owners have filed 1,693 complaints with NHTSA, weighted toward the suspension and the service brakes ahead of the power train. Suspension, brake and axle procedures are the busiest parts of this book.
