Known issues on the 2000 A4. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two cover the driver-side front air bag inflator module: Non-Azide Driver air bag inflators lacking phase stabilized ammonium nitrate propellant can absorb moisture and deploy improperly in a crash, failing to properly protect the occupant. A third covers aftermarket Tru-Flow water pump replacement parts sold for this engine, where a defective unit can cause timing belt failure and engine shutdown while driving. The remaining two cover aftermarket replacement combination lamps sold without amber side reflectors, which fail federal lighting standards and reduce visibility to other drivers. A failure of the timing belt may cause the engine to shut down, potentially increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Remedy

I WAS DRIVING MY 2000 AUDI A4 1.8T WHEN THE ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY STUCK. AUDI SERVICE TECHNICIANS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IF THE FLOORMAT MOVES UP EVEN TWO INCHES IT COULD CAUSE THE ACCELERATOR TO STICK.
