Known issues on the 1999 E300. Of the 24 complaints owners filed on this year, suspension draws the most at 8, with power train and electrical system at 3 each, and one complaint reported a crash. NHTSA filed one recall against the 1999 E-Class line: certain cars there may have had the wrong clamp fitted to the window airbag assemblies, so the airbag might not open fully in a side impact. Dealers inspected the units and replaced any found with a wrong or badly installed clamp. Six more complaints were filed against the 1999 E-Class line, five on suspension. The manual's restraint system and suspension procedures and diagnostics apply.
