Known issues on the 1999 Prizm. The single recall on the federal record reaches these cars through the parts counter: front strut mounts sold as replacements were assembled without a weld between the bearing housing and the rate plate, and without it the strut can leave its mounting position under extreme driving and damage the components around it. The 43 owner complaints point elsewhere — air bags lead with ten, followed by six on the engine and cooling system and five on the service brakes.
