Known issues on the 1996 T100. One recall is on federal record for this model year, and it covers the steering linkage relay rod. The recall summary describes certain pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles in which the steering wheel is repeatedly turned under conditions where high steering effort and power assist are required; if the vehicle continues to be operated in that condition, the relay rod may fracture. Owners have registered 130 complaints for the year, and Toyota has issued 16 technical service bulletins.
Inspecting the relay rod and steering linkage for play, chasing down one of the faults behind those 130 owner reports, or simply hitting a service interval on the four-cylinder or the V6 — the figures you work to stay Toyota's own, at this 1996 T100's specification.

THESE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS FAIL TO HOLD THE SPEED SET BY THE DRIVER AND CAN ACCELERATE ABOVE THE INTENDED SET SPEED.
Consequence
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CAN INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
Remedy
