Known issues on the 1996 Lumina APV. Two recalls are on the federal record. One concerns the power rack and pinion: retainer tabs on the lower pinion bearing were not crimped properly, and if the retainer fails the ball bearings escape, letting the pinion shaft ride up during left turns until the wheel demands far more effort than power steering should ask of the driver. The other covers replacement fuel pressure regulators built without an O-ring and retainer, where fuel can leak and reach an ignition source. Complaints are modest at 46 — eight on visibility, six on seats, five on engine and cooling.
