This factory service and repair manual for the 1994 Chevrolet Lumina APV documents two pushrod V6s — 3.1 liters at 189 cubic inches and 3.8 liters at 231 — in three-door mini cargo and mini passenger van bodies, in Base and LS trim. Both engines are naturally aspirated and gasoline-fueled, and the difference between them runs through the engine, fuel and cooling sections, while the transmission, axle, brake, steering and suspension procedures behind them are common to the van.

Known issues on the 1994 Lumina APV. Four recalls are recorded for this year, all but one on the restraint system. Third-row retractors installed incorrectly can lock on a slope of less than fifteen degrees, so passengers cannot draw the belt out until the van is moved. The rear center retractor may be missing a pawl spring, which lets the webbing pay out further than it should in a crash. A second-row shoulder belt can be pinched between the seat and the pillar trim and stop retracting. The fourth is the transmission cooler line that separates and spills fluid, a fire risk. Of 89 complaints, 14 are on seat belts and 12 on brakes.
