This factory service and repair manual for the 1995 Mercedes-Benz S500 covers one powertrain and two bodies. Under the hood sits a gasoline 5.0L V8, naturally aspirated, with dual overhead camshafts. Buyers chose between the 4-door sedan and the 2-door coupe, and the car came in a single Base trim. The manual gives specifications and torque values for that engine and procedures for both the sedan and the coupe.

Known issues on the 1995 S500. NHTSA filed one recall against the 1995 W140-chassis models. On certain vehicles in that group, a poorly set machine tool left metal shavings in the rear ABS sensor bore; if they worked loose onto the sensor, the control unit could read a locking wheel that was not there and cycle the rear brakes early, lengthening stops. Dealers inspected and cleaned the opening. Eight complaints name the S500 itself, seven electrical; one reported a crash and one reported a death. The 1995 S-Class line draws 35 more, 27 electrical. ABS sensor procedures and wiring diagrams are both covered.
