Three engines were offered in the 1993 Toyota Celica, and they have little in common with one another: the naturally aspirated 2.2L 5S-FE, the turbocharged 2.0L 3S-GTE and the 1.6L 4A-FE. Which one the car was built with — and whether it left the factory as an automatic or as a standard-transmission C52 or C53 car — changes the numbers you work to, so the figures here are Toyota's for the 1993 Celica rather than a generation-wide average.

Known issues on the 1993 Celica. One recall is on federal record for this model year, and it falls under suspension. Ride Control recalled certain front strut mounts branded as Gabriel Ride Control or ArvinMeritor, part numbers 142435, 142193, 142305 and 142303, sold as replacement equipment for these vehicles. The absence of the weld can allow the strut to come out of its mounting position. Owners have also logged 18 complaints against the 1993 Celica, and 13 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
Whether the work is a front strut mount that needs checking, a boost-side fault on the turbocharged car or a routine service interval on the naturally aspirated one, the procedure and the specifications are Toyota's own for the 1993 Celica.
