Known issues on the 1992 XJS. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the gasoline fuel system: a fuel filter connector that was not manufactured to specification can leave the O-ring poorly seated on the fuel line, which may allow an inadequate seal and, in the presence of an ignition source, a fire. The second covers front underhood wiring, where the engine harness can chafe against the air conditioning expansion valve protection plate, leading to short circuits and possible vehicle stalling. Owners have filed 4 complaints for the year.
Regular V12 service intervals, fuel line inspection, and attention to underhood harness routing are the key upkeep points for this model year.
