1992 Ford Probe Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 Ford Probe covers the two-door hatchback in Base, GL, GT, LX and SE trims, five in all, with three gasoline engines to account for: the 2.2L SOHC inline-four of 133 cubic inches in turbocharged and naturally aspirated forms, and the 3.0L OHV V6 of 182 cubic inches, naturally aspirated. Whether the car on the lift has the turbocharged four, the plain four or the V6, the procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are keyed to that engine, and the hatchback body and chassis are covered once for every trim.

Known issues on the 1992 Probe. Three recalls stand on federal record for the 1992 Probe: the automatic shoulder belt rail on each front seat can wear until the cable that retracts the buckle jams and the belt no longer works, and the rear wheel bearing retainer ring groove was machined incorrectly, which can let the axle lug nuts break and the brake drum, wheel and tire come away. Owners have submitted 98 complaints to NHTSA, 57 of them on seat belts, with the power train and electrical system at seven each. Seat belt procedures, rear hub and drum brake torque values and the wiring diagrams are the relevant sections.
THE GROOVE FOR THE REAR WHEEL BEARING RETAINER RING WAS INCORRECTLY MACHINED.
