1991 Ford Probe Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1991 Ford Probe is written for five trims of the two-door hatchback, Base, GL, GT, LX and SE, and for three gasoline engines: the turbocharged 2.2L SOHC inline-four, the naturally aspirated 3.0L OHV V6 of 182 cubic inches, and the naturally aspirated 2.2L SOHC inline-four, the fours sharing 133 cubic inches. Five trims across three engines means the book has to keep straight which engine and equipment a given car carries, and its procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are arranged by engine first and by body and trim second.

Known issues on the 1991 Probe. The 1991 Probe has four recalls on federal record. The brackets that mount the automatic shoulder belt retractor may have an understrength spot weld, so the belt could fail in a collision; two further recalls cover the automatic shoulder belt rails, which can wear until the retracting cable jams and leaves the belt inoperative on either front seat. Owners have brought 190 complaints to NHTSA, with seat belts far ahead at 144, followed by visibility at 12 and the electrical system at six. Seat belt procedures and anchorage torque values, and the wiring diagrams, are the manual's answer to that record.
THE GROOVE FOR THE REAR WHEEL BEARING RETAINER RING WAS INCORRECTLY MACHINED.
