1990 Porsche 911 Service and Repair Manual
This 1990 Porsche 911 factory service and repair manual is built for the 3.6L H6 (VIN B) flat-six and the specific trim you own, so the torque values, clearances, and diagnostic steps inside are the ones Porsche published for your car, not a generic 911-era approximation.

Known issues on the 1990 911. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the cruise control linkage: the ball sockets can break, letting the linkage detach on one end and jam against nearby components, which can impair throttle plate operation and prevent the engine from returning to idle. The second covers the steering column, where the upper universal joint can crack during manufacturing, producing noise and free play that can progress to a loss of steering control. The third covers the hood latch, which can fail to fully lock when luggage or trim interferes with it, allowing the hood to open and obstruct the driver's view. The fourth covers the rear heater blower circuit, where an overloaded resistor can generate enough heat to ignite the plastic air pipe it's connected to, resulting in an engine compartment fire. Owners have filed 2 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From tracing a stuck cruise control linkage to inspecting the steering column universal joint or the rear heater blower circuit, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 1990 911.
