Known issues on the 1989 C3500. Two recalls stand on the federal record for this year. One concerns replacement fuel filters that seal poorly at the connection, letting fuel escape where an ignition source could set it alight. The other is a labeling fault: the truck carried wrong instructions for adjusting the rear lap-shoulder belts, so a belt set by the book would not restrain an occupant properly in a crash or a sudden stop. Owners logged nine complaints, split mainly between tires and visibility at three each, with one on the power train.
