Known issues on the 1988 Sundance. Restraints are the theme of the 2 recalls for the 1988 Sundance. Certain 1988 Sundance cars with automatic shoulder belts were recalled because that system could malfunction and stop working; revised drive and rail parts went in. The other, 6,500 vehicles and again certain 1988 Sundance cars, concerned the front passenger lap belt retractor and its child-seat locking feature, which could fail and let a child seat shift. Seat belts also top the 27 owner complaints at 10, ahead of engine and engine cooling at 6 and the gasoline fuel system at 4; 2 complaints reported a crash, 2 a fire and 2 an injury.
