1985 Ford LT9000 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1985 Ford LT9000 settles on five diesels: the turbocharged 10.0L inline-six (611 cu in), the turbocharged 14.6L inline-six (893 cu in), the turbocharged 14.0L inline-six (855 cu in), the 9.0L V6 (552 cu in) and the 7.0L inline-six (426 cu in). Three body styles are listed for the year, the medium-conventional tractor truck, a low-tilt tractor truck and the medium-conventional straight truck, all in Base trim. The low-tilt tractor is the addition that separates this year from the year before in the manual's procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics.

Known issues on the 1985 LT9000. Two items are on the federal record for the 1985 LT9000. One recall covers the hand throttle: its control was left unmarked on both the knob and the instrument panel, contrary to the federal standard for control identification. Owners have lodged one complaint with NHTSA, and it concerns latches, locks and linkages. Neither points to the engines, so the manual's procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for the throttle controls and for the latches, locks and linkages are the relevant sections, with the five diesels covered in the same way.
HAND THROTTLE CONTROLS WERE NOT IDENTIFIED EITHER ON THE CONTROL KNOB OR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS REQUIRED BY FMVSS 101.
