1984 Ford LT9000 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1984 Ford LT9000 lists six diesel engines, one more than the year before, with the turbocharged 10.0L inline-six (611 cu in) joining the 9.3L V8 (568 cu in), the turbocharged 14.6L inline-six (893 cu in), the turbocharged 14.0L inline-six (855 cu in), the 9.0L V6 (552 cu in) and the 7.0L inline-six (426 cu in). Body styles remain the medium-conventional tractor truck and straight truck, in Base trim only. With that many engines under one hood line, the procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for each engine are where the year-specific detail lives.

Known issues on the 1984 LT9000. One recall is on federal record for the 1984 LT9000: the hand throttle control was not identified on either the control knob or the instrument panel, as the federal labeling standard requires. No owner complaints are logged with NHTSA. It is a labeling matter rather than a mechanical one, but the throttle controls it points to are covered by the manual's procedures, specifications and wiring diagrams for the six diesels, alongside torque values and diagnostics for the rest of the truck.
HAND THROTTLE CONTROLS WERE NOT IDENTIFIED EITHER ON THE CONTROL KNOB OR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS REQUIRED BY FMVSS 101.
