1984 Ford LTD Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 1984 Ford LTD covers four naturally aspirated engines: the 5.8L OHV V8 (351 cu in), the 5.0L OHV V8 (302 cu in), the 3.8L OHV V6 (232 cu in) and the 2.3L SOHC inline-four (140 cu in) that runs on LPG (propane) or gasoline. Known issues on the 1984 LTD. Three recalls are on federal record for the 1984 LTD. One covers aftermarket replacement fuel pumps whose diaphragm may leak and create a fire hazard. Another concerns the front seat belts, where the bolts holding the shoulder-belt D-ring are inadequately supported by the material they mount in. The third notes that heat shields for the catalytic converter outlet pipes were omitted, so after severe use the hot pipes could ignite ground cover. Owners have lodged 15 complaints with NHTSA, mostly about engine cooling and the electrical system.
