The 2021 Audi A7 Sportback left the factory with one of two powertrains: the 2.0L four-cylinder plug-in hybrid on engine code DLGA, or the 3.0L V6 mild hybrid on DLZA. Known issues on the 2021 A7 Sportback. Eleven recalls are on federal record for this model year, and six of them are electrical or display faults. Two separate recalls cover the rearview camera: a software issue can put a blank or black screen in place of the camera image when the vehicle is placed in reverse gear, and a second software error can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying as intended, reducing the driver's view behind the vehicle. A further software error can make the instrument panel display fail, so critical safety information such as the speedometer or warning lights may not be shown. Liquid spilled in the rear seat can penetrate and cause the gateway control module to shut down, which suddenly reduces engine power. The fuel level sender may stick, putting an inaccurate fuel level reading on the instrument cluster and allowing the engine to stall for lack of fuel. The rear axle is the subject of two more: the lock nut on the trailing arm can break due to stress corrosion and misalign the axle, causing a loss of control, and a follow-up recall covers cars whose rear axle alignment was not inspected after the repairs for that earlier recall were performed, leaving a misalignment that can cause premature or uneven tire wear. On the passenger air bag, the score line may not have been manufactured correctly, so the bag may not deploy properly and could eject plastic debris into the passenger compartment. The rear seat belt automatic locking retractors may deactivate early, which can prevent a child restraint system from securing properly. An incorrectly labeled brake fluid cap may have been installed, which can result in the use of the wrong type of brake fluid and reduced braking ability. And when the industrial 220V/240V plug is used at the 100% charge setting, some home power outlets may be incapable of handling the electrical current required to utilize the compact charging system, causing the outlet or charging cable to overheat and increasing the risk of a fire. Owners have filed 6 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are on record.
