Known issues on the 2020 Supra. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year, all of them submitted to NHTSA by BMW of North America, LLC, several under campaigns shared with BMW models such as the Z4 and the 330i. Two concern the headlights: in the first, the headlight control units may fail, and headlight failure can reduce the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash; in the second, the headlamps are able to be adjusted horizontally, and should they be adjusted that way there could be increased glare and reduced visibility. A back-over prevention recall covers the camera sensing system, where the lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash. An electrical system recall covers the starter assembly relay, where a short circuit in the starter relay may increase the risk of a fire. A steering recall covers the tie rod assembly, since a damaged or fractured tie rod may affect vehicle handling and control. A gasoline fuel system recall covers the tank assembly, where the weld between the fuel tank halves may have been insufficiently welded; the failed weld may allow fuel to leak, increasing the risk of a fire. A front seat belt recall covers the driver's seat belt guide loop mount, which may have been improperly welded, so in the event of a crash the mount could become damaged. The eighth is listed under engine and addresses a loss of braking assist, which can increase the risk of a crash. There are also 25 owner complaints on record for the year and 63 technical service bulletins.
