Known issues on the 2019 RS5. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers rear axle alignment: after an earlier repair, the rear axle may not have been re-inspected, and misalignment can cause premature or uneven tire wear that raises crash risk. The second covers the 12-volt battery cover: an incorrect positive terminal cover was installed, and in a rear crash the compromised power supply can leave doors unable to open from outside and disable the hazard lights. The third covers the rear trailing arm lock nut, which can break from stress corrosion, misalign the rear axle, and cause a loss of control. The fourth covers the passenger seat heater cable feeding the Passenger Occupant Detection System, where a contact fault can make the software misdiagnose a malfunction and disable the passenger air bag.
