Known issues on the 2018 Panamera. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year. One covers the electric power steering assist system, where a software failure can cause an intermittent loss of assist and raise the risk of a crash. A second covers the electrical system: incorrect soldering of a control unit can intermittently knock out various systems and impair driveability. A third covers the hydraulic service brakes on the hybrid variants, whose front-axle brake lines can corrode over time, with corrosion inside the line affecting front braking performance. Two more concern the instrument cluster, which may not give a visual warning when the brake pads are worn out; unwarned, a driver may lose control while attempting to brake or find the car not responding as expected. The sixth is electrical again, on the climate control system's external coolant pump, where humidity can get in and cause a short circuit that risks a vehicle fire. Owners have filed 12 complaints for the year.
