Known issues on the 2017 Bolt EV. Four recalls are on the federal record, in two pairs. The first pair covers a high-voltage battery that can catch fire when charged to full or nearly full capacity. The second pair concerns what happens after a crash: the exhaust from a deploying seat belt pretensioner can ignite carpet fibers near the B-pillar and start a fire in the body itself. Owner complaints are unusually few at four, three of them on steering. Battery, restraint and steering procedures are all specified in this manual.
