Known issues on the 2016 528i. Four recalls stand federally, and three of them concern occupant protection. The driver's emergency locking retractor may not lock as designed, so it can grab late with the occupant already thrown forward. The seat-mounted side air bag initiators may fail to ignite, leaving that bag undeployed in a crash. An inboard lower child-seat anchor may be bent downward so a child seat cannot engage both anchors. The fourth covers a water pump connector that can admit water and short, risking fire.
