Known issues on the 2011 528i. Four recalls stand federally. One covers a replacement sensor cluster whose acceleration sensor was programmed incorrectly, so the air bags, belt pretensioners and active head restraints may not fire as a crash demands. Another concerns in-tank fuel pump connections crimped inadequately, letting wires work loose, melt the connector and leak fuel or stop the pump outright. A third involves a crankcase ventilation valve heater that short-circuits and melts, a fire risk even parked. Complaints reach 198, led by 36 on engine and cooling, 31 on tires and 26 on steering.
