This factory service and repair manual for the 2013 BMW 528i covers one sedan body, one Base trim and one engine: the turbocharged 2.0L inline-four of 122 cubic inches, DOHC, gasoline. Because the range holds still, the book goes deep instead of wide. Engine management, boost control, fuel delivery and cooling are documented with the specifications the turbocharged four needs, and the chassis, body and electrical sections describe a single build in detail rather than several of them in outline.
Engines covered
- 2.0L inline-four (122 cu in) — DOHC, turbocharged, gasoline
Body styles covered
- 4-door sedan
Trims covered
- Base
Known issues on the 2013 528i. Four recalls sit on the federal record. Two cover the brake vacuum pump, which can run short of lubrication and fail, reducing the assistance behind the pedal. One concerns rear reflex reflectors that return too little light, leaving the car harder to see from behind. The last involves a water pump connector that was not sealed properly, admitting water and shorting with a risk of fire. Complaints number 73, with 23 on the engine, 12 on the power train and 11 on engine cooling — all systems specified and diagnosed here.
