Known issues on the 2014 Sonic. Four recalls are recorded federally. A lost electrical connection in the steering column can limit the driver's frontal air bag to its first stage in a severe crash, so the bag inflates less than the impact calls for. Weak welds at the front fuel tank strap bracket can let the bracket separate and the tank leak. A supplied cord can expose bare wires and shock whoever handles it while plugged in, and a radio fault removes the chime warning of a key left in the ignition.
