Known issues on the 2013 Sonic. Six recalls appear on the federal record. Poor welds can let the front fuel tank strap bracket break away, overload the remaining support and drop the tank far enough to leak fuel near an ignition source. A driver's air bag inflator can rupture as it fires and throw metal fragments into the cabin. Two more are wiring faults: brake lamps that flash while the car is not slowing, and a body control module that never notices a dead turn signal. Owners have logged 217 complaints, led by the electrical system at 44, the power train at 38 and the engine at 26.
