Known issues on the 2013 E550. Five recalls apply to this year. On certain 4MATIC sedan versions, a rubber seal at the rear of the engine bay could cling to the hood when opened and then drop onto hot exhaust parts once it closed, creating a fire risk; dealers fitted extra retaining clips. Certain 4MATIC versions had steering parts without enough electrical grounding, which could trigger the driver air bag unexpectedly. Certain convertible and coupe versions whose sale or registration history placed them in designated states and territories were recalled because the passenger inflator could burst. Owners reported 16 complaints, half on air bags. Two complaints filed against the 2013 C207-chassis models involve air bags, electrical and steering.
