Known issues on the 2012 CLS550. Three recalls are recorded for the 2012 CLS550. On 23 certain cars built between December 1 and December 13, 2011, the bolts holding the hood's secondary latch striker may not have been tightened enough; if they loosen, the backup latch stops working, and dealers retighten them. Certain 4MATIC versions were recalled because their air bags might fail to deploy as designed in a crash, a fault corrected with control unit software. Certain cars also had LED tail lamps that could fail to light at the sides, and received a lighting software update. Fuel/propulsion accounts for 8 of 22 complaints; there is 1 complaint that reported a crash and 1 that reported an injury.
