The 2011 Toyota Venza was sold with a choice of two engines and two drivetrain layouts: a 2.7L four-cylinder (1AR-FE) or a 3.5L V6 (2GRFE), in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The two drivetrains differ in drive shaft and final-drive hardware, and the four and the six differ in accessory drive, cooling and torque specifications, so a figure that is right for one Venza is often wrong for another wearing the same badge.

Known issues on the 2011 Venza. Five recalls are on federal record for this vehicle. The first covers the frontal air bag sensor and control module, where the front passenger seat occupant sensing system can be out of calibration. The second covers the side curtain air bags on 2009-2015 Venza vehicles, where damaged wires may cause the air bag sensor to become inoperable. The third is a labeling recall: an inaccurate label could lead to owners overloading their vehicles and tires. The fourth covers the brake light switch, since inoperative brake lights would not warn other drivers that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. The fifth is a driveline recall on 2011 Venza and Sienna cars built from March 7 through March 10, 2011, in which the front right drive shaft may break; should the drive shaft break during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose power. Owners have filed 89 complaints against this model year, and 107 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
