Known issues on the 2009 MKZ. Recall campaigns filed for the 2009 MKZ number 6. On certain 2009 MKZ vehicles, a driver or passenger frontal inflator installed as a replacement service part could explode after long exposure to heat and humidity; dealers inspected both modules and replaced the module or inflator as needed. In designated regions, certain vehicles had passenger frontal inflators, original or replacement, that could rupture the same way; owners were told not to drive until repaired. Certain vehicles could also have ABS control unit valves that failed to close because of a reaction with brake fluid additives.
