Known issues on the 2009 Acura RL. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year, and all five involve frontal air bag inflator modules: two on the driver side, where an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, or where the inflator could fail in a crash that deploys the driver's frontal air bag; and three on the passenger side, where an inflator explosion or rupture may result in metal fragments striking the occupants and serious injury. Owners have submitted 14 complaints for this year, and 44 technical service bulletins have been issued. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures for the systems behind those reports, including the supplemental restraint system, are here.
From a scheduled service interval to an air bag circuit test or a hard-to-trace wiring fault, it keeps you on the factory procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2009 RL.
