This factory service and repair manual for the 2008 Chevrolet C4500 Kodiak covers a truck sold with a turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel of 403 cubic inches or an 8.1-liter gasoline V8 of 496, in three body forms and under six order codes. It keeps engine-specific material separate while treating the frame, axles, brakes and cab as common ground, which matches the way the chassis was built and the way it is worked on once a body has been mounted. Nothing in the chassis chapters has to be sorted by engine choice.

Known issues on the 2008 C4500 Kodiak. Two recalls are on the federal record, both attached to equipment added to the chassis. One covers a ceiling-mounted air conditioning unit whose heater element can be defective and produce smoke or sparks, with fire the stated risk. The other concerns a wheelchair lift interlock whose protection diode can be destroyed by voltage spikes, after which the truck can be driven away with the lift deployed and someone on it. A single owner complaint is recorded, on engine and engine cooling — an area covered here with cooling system diagnosis, specifications and torque values.
