This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 Chevrolet C4500 Kodiak covers four configurations: two-door conventional cab and chassis, crew cab and chassis, motorhome cutaway and cutaway chassis. Six order codes span them, and the engine choice runs between an 8.1-liter gasoline V8 of 496 cubic inches and a turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel of 403. Because so many of these trucks end up under a coach, service body or utility bed, the chassis material is written to stand alone, without assuming what was mounted behind the cab.

Known issues on the 2006 C4500 Kodiak. Three recalls are recorded, all on equipment mounted to the chassis rather than built into it. A protection diode in an aftermarket wheelchair lift interlock can fail under voltage spikes, letting the truck be driven with the lift down and occupied. An aftermarket rear air suspension has cracked at its lateral control bracket, which spoils handling and can end in a loss of control. And a truck bed's hitch channel was attached with insufficient weld, so the hitch may bend or tear away. Owners logged six complaints, three on engine and engine cooling.
