Known issues on the 2007 S550. NHTSA filed three recalls against wider Mercedes-Benz lines. Two name the 2007 S-Class line: certain vehicles could suffer a failed front strut radial knuckle after high mileage on rough roads, affecting steering, and certain others got incorrect coding at a workshop that could stop the fuel pump shutting off after a crash. The third, against the 2007 W221-chassis models, covered certain vehicles equipped with Active Body Control acceleration sensors whose solder joints could make the front struts adjust unevenly. Owners logged 54 complaints, led by power train (13) and suspension (12); 2 complaints reported a fire. Suspension, fuel pump and steering procedures are covered with wiring diagrams.
