By 2007 the Ascender had been pared back to a single configuration: the five-passenger S with the 4.2L DOHC inline-six and a four-speed automatic, in two- or four-wheel drive. The V8 and the seven-seat body were gone, leaving a close sibling of the GMC Envoy and Chevrolet TrailBlazer wearing Isuzu badges. Known issues on the 2007 Ascender. Four recalls are on federal record. Three concern fluid getting into the driver's door module or master power window switch, where corrosion can short the circuit board, make the locks and windows work intermittently and, in rare cases, cause overheating or fire. The fourth covers a headlamp driver module that can overheat and fail, leaving the headlamps and daytime running lights off.
