Known issues on the 2006 Freestar. Three recalls are on federal record. One concerns third row seats that can be left unlatched, which raises the risk of injury in a rear-end collision. Another covers the power liftgate, where the motor disengages after the gate is powered open so a strut failure can let it drop without warning. The third is an aftermarket fuel filter campaign. Owners have filed 356 complaints with NHTSA, most of them about the power train, then the electrical system and the seats. Transmission, liftgate and seat work is all specified in this manual.
