2006 Chevrolet C5500 Kodiak Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 Chevrolet C5500 Kodiak covers a chassis sold in four forms — two-door conventional cab and chassis, crew cab and chassis, motorhome cutaway and cutaway chassis — under six order codes, with either the 8.1-liter naturally aspirated gasoline V8 of 496 cubic inches or the turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel of 403. Trucks in this class spend their working lives under bodies the factory never fitted, so the frame, driveline, brake and electrical chapters are the ones that stay in use.

Known issues on the 2006 C5500 Kodiak. Three recalls reach this model year, all of them on equipment added after the chassis was built. Two involve wheelchair lifts: in one, a protection diode in an interlock kit fails under voltage spikes so the truck can be driven with the lift down and occupied; in the other, roll stop latches on a lift's outer barrier bend or drift out of alignment, letting a wheelchair ride over them and fall from a raised platform. The third covers a rear air suspension bracket that has cracked, hurting handling. Eight complaints split evenly between engine and engine cooling and suspension.
