2005 Chevrolet C5500 Kodiak Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Chevrolet C5500 Kodiak covers six order codes — C5C042, C5C044, C5E042, C5E044, C5U042 and C5V042 — against four body types: two-door conventional cab and chassis, crew cab and chassis, motorhome cutaway and cutaway chassis. Two engines were available, a turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel of 403 cubic inches and a naturally aspirated 8.1-liter gasoline V8 of 496. Six codes against four bodies makes for a wide set of equipment permutations, and the wiring coverage reflects that.

Known issues on the 2005 C5500 Kodiak. Two recalls are attached to this chassis, both on aftermarket hardware. One concerns a rear air suspension whose axle-side lateral control bracket has cracked; a fracture there changes how the truck handles and can lead to a loss of control. The other involves a wheelchair lift interlock in which a protection diode fails under voltage spikes, leaving the vehicle drivable with the lift deployed and occupied. Owner complaints number four, three of them on steering. Steering gear, linkage and column diagnosis are specified here, as are the chassis circuits behind the fourth.
