This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG covers a two-door convertible, the only body style recorded, in Base trim. Its engine is a 6.0L V12 of 365 cubic inches: turbocharged, gasoline-fueled and fitted with SOHC heads. One engine, one body and one trim make up the 2005 specification, and the manual gives procedures and torque values for that convertible.

Known issues on the 2005 SL65 AMG. Two recalls were issued against wider lines this convertible belongs to. For the 2005 SL-Class line, certain vehicles' Sensotronic Brake Control could drop early into its hydraulic backup mode because of a deteriorating wiring connection or a failing pump, which still stops the car but needs a harder, longer pedal push. For certain 2005 R230-chassis models with Active Body Control front strut sensors, poor solder joints could leave the front suspension uneven. One complaint about the 2005 SL65 AMG itself concerns the fuel and propulsion system, and one against the 2005 SL-Class line cites speed control and air bags. Brake, suspension and fuel system procedures, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are covered.
