Known issues on the 2005 E500. NHTSA recorded three recalls for the 2005 E500 and, separately, filed three recalls against the 2005 E-Class line. The E500's own campaigns target certain vehicles with a sunroof glass panel that might not be fastened properly or whose adhesive could give way; dealers inspect it and replace parts as needed. Among the line-wide recalls, certain 2005 E-Class line vehicles could see the Sensotronic Brake Control pump motor drift out of tolerance after very high mileage and heavy braking, forcing the hydraulic fallback mode. The 138 owner complaints center on fuel and propulsion (55), service brakes (33) and the gasoline fuel system (23); 4 complaints reported a crash and 4 an injury.
