Known issues on the 1994 E500. One recall was filed by NHTSA against the 1994 E-Class line. It covered certain vehicles in which the metal footrest on the front passenger side could slowly wear through the wiring harness beneath it and short it out; the result could be overheated wires, a stalled engine or an unintended airbag deployment. Dealers secured the harness with extra ties and edge guards. One owner complaint on the 1994 E500 names the electrical system, and the 1994 E-Class line carries 41 complaints of its own, 33 of them electrical. Wiring diagrams and electrical diagnostics here cover the circuits involved.
