Known issues on the 2005 Liberty. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year: a fuel-tank assembly leak that can cause a fire in the presence of an ignition source; a suspension condition that can cause a loss of effective lift and lowering of the vehicle; an automatic-transmission condition that can let the vehicle roll away and cause a crash if the parking brake is not applied; and a fracture of the rear lower control arm that can cause a loss of vehicle control. Owners have filed 1,461 complaints and Jeep has issued 52 technical service bulletins for the year.
