Known issues on the 2005 Element. Ten recalls are on federal record for this model year. Six of them cover the frontal air bag inflator, driver and passenger side, where propellant degradation or moisture intrusion can cause the inflator to rupture or explode and send metal fragments into the vehicle occupants. A separate recall covers the automatic transmission control module, where a broken secondary shaft bearing race can trigger a short circuit that stalls the engine or lets the vehicle roll after the gear selector is placed in park. Two more cover aftermarket corner and bumper lamp assemblies that lack the required amber side reflectors, reducing lighting visibility. The last covers a Honda accessory trailer harness kit with an incorrectly wired connector that can cause trailer brake and turn signal lamps to malfunction or blow a fuse.
