This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Chevrolet C8500 has to serve three quite different trucks: a medium conventional straight truck, a four-door crew cab straight truck and a low tilt straight truck. Four configurations stand against them, C8C042, C8C064, C8E042 and C8V042. Engine choice runs to three as well — a turbocharged 7.2L diesel inline-six of 441 cubic inches, a turbocharged 7.8L diesel inline-six of 475, and a naturally aspirated overhead-valve 8.1L gasoline V8 of 496 — so the cab and body chapters are kept separate from the powertrain ones.

Known issues on the 2005 C8500. This model year is clean on the federal record: no recalls, and no owner complaints logged with NHTSA.
