Known issues on the 2004 Stratus. Suspension is the leading complaint area for the 2004 Stratus, 39 of 147, ahead of engine and engine cooling (22) and air bags and the electrical system (16 each). Of those complaints, 25 reported a crash, 7 an injury and 1 a fire. One of the 3 recalls covered certain two-door 2004 Stratus vehicles, 8,108 in total, whose fuel pump return hose fitting could be molded incorrectly and break, leaking fuel that might ignite; dealers replaced the pump. Another reached certain 2004 Stratus vehicles in which a restricted return fitting on the electric fuel pump could let fuel pressure build high enough to make the return hose leak, a fire risk near an ignition source.
