2003 GMC Sierra 3500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2003 GMC Sierra 3500 covers three trims, Base, SLE and SLT, across five bodies that run from pickups to cab and chassis units. Under them go the 6.6L turbocharged diesel V8 of 403 cubic inches, the 6.0L overhead-valve V8 of 364 cubic inches on gasoline or CNG, and the 8.1L gasoline V8 of 496 cubic inches. The manual's procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are broken out by system, which is what keeps a chassis cab job and a crew cab job from colliding.

Known issues on the 2003 Sierra 3500. The federal record lists eight recalls for this model year. Some trucks lack a continuous urethane bonding bead behind the windshield, so the glass may not be retained in a crash. A hydro-boost housing relief valve bore machined out of specification can let the valve seal fracture, raising the effort needed to brake and to steer. Second-row center lap belts can also ride up on the abdomen instead of sitting low on the hips. Of 573 owner complaints, 249 name service brakes, 104 the electrical system and 54 steering. Glass, brake and restraint procedures with torque values are all here.
