Known issues on the 2000 Alero. Four recalls are listed for the 2000 Alero. Certain 2000 Alero vehicles could have the ignition switch knocked out of run by key ring weight or a road impact, shutting the engine down and possibly disabling the air bags. On certain 2000 Alero vehicles, solder joints inside the hazard warning switch could crack from rapid temperature changes, leaving turn signals and hazard lamps intermittent or dead. Certain 2000 Alero vehicles equipped with manual transaxles could sit in fourth gear while the lever showed reverse, letting the key be removed in a forward gear.
